A noise gate that attenuates the signal when it falls below a set level, to suppress hiss and hum in quiet passages. Threshold (in dB) sets the level below which the gate closes, Averaging sets the level-detector time constant, Attack and Release set how quickly the gate opens and closes, Delay holds the audio back so the gate can open just ahead of a transient, and Gain trims the output. The time controls use a logarithmic scale.
The block measures the running signal level, compares it in dB against the threshold, and derives a gain that closes below it; that gain is smoothed with the attack and release times and applied to the delayed audio. All of this is computed one sample-frame per tick inside WaveWarp's sample-per-sample engine.
