Audio Phase-Space Scope

What it is

Real-time plot of the second audio input versus the first audio input. For stereo inputs, each channel is displayed in a separate plot. NOTE: The name "Phase-Space Scope" is borrowed from dynamical system theory where a plot of this type is commonly used for plotting the trajectory of one dynamic state (e.g. position of an object) versus another (e.g. velocity of the object). Such plots can often reveal useful information about the nature of the underlying dynamical system (e.g. the classic "Butterfly pattern" of the famous chaotic Lorentz Attractor, see [Gl] p. 114). The plot properties are adjusted via the Parameter Window, as summarised in the following table. Parameter Purpose "Number of points" slider Sets the number of samples in the "snapshot" buffer. The "Reset" button restores the default setting. The plot is updated whenever the snapshot buffer is re-filled. The time elapsed between successive updates is displayed as the "Refresh period". "Plot scale" slider Adjusts the scale of the plot (the plot is symmetric so the X- and Y-scales are adjusted together). The "Reset" button restores the default setting. "Freeze/Unfreeze" button Freeze-frame toggle control. When the plot has been frozen, it is not updated again until it has been unfrozen (even after the "stop" button has been pressed).
