Note Staff

What it is

The Note Staff block shows the note you play as notation. Feed it audio and it draws a five-line staff with the note head in place: the treble clef from middle C up, the bass clef below it, with ledger lines and a sharp where needed and the note name and cents underneath. A note far above or below the staff is shifted by octaves and marked 8va or 8vb. It has one audio input and no outputs, and no parameters.

How it works

It uses the same pitch detection as the Note Display (the McLeod pitch method over an FFT autocorrelation, first strong peak, parabolic refinement) and places the nearest equal-tempered note on the staff by its letter and octave, spelled with sharps.
